The Main Purpose...

The main purpose of this web domain is to deliver to the Internet a major history writing/research project concerning early Australian-European history - The Blackheath Connection.
This book project was completed after many years´ work in 1999-2000 and later placed on the Internet. Since then it has been multi-cited and quoted on many websites, usually with responsible attribution and acknowledgement (which is greatly appreciated).

Researching and producing the Blackheath Connection was a major exercise, reviewing the history of convict transportation from England (or, Britain) to North America 1718-1755, and later to Australia from 1786-1810.
Research began in 1977 – and it continues (with the Merchant Networks Project indicated below).
More detailed follow-up on the period 1810-1865 is now being completed and is due one day on the Net.

If you are attracted to The Blackheath Connection, prepare for some surprises by way of discovering a new set of perspectives on the rise of Britain's convict colonies in Australia from 1788!

The history websites on this domain now have a companion website on a new domain, at Merchant Networks Project produced by Dan Byrnes and Ken Cozens (of London).

Blogging???

Dan Byrnes is not into blogging as such (and appears at no other URLs in any major way), but the current state of the world demands more short takes from everybody in cyberspace in order to alert politicians about their current lacks of power, failure to get a grip on the future, and their other ills ... so a few items on news or recently-arising political topics are posted here.

On that page you can find a recent poem on the USA´s debt crisis. Title is: Levee breaks on debt ceiling. The mixed metaphor is quite deliberately intended.
