He has two drs, one Elizabeth or Lizzie, Mrs MB Thomas and Miss Melville. He is engaged to Elizabeth Shaw, dr of Lemuel Shaw, chief justice of Massachusetts. He has a cousin, Lt Guert Gansevoort. His first whaling trup is on Acushnet, Capt Valentine Pease of Fairhaven, Massachusetts. His uncle Major Thomas Melville moves to Galena, Illionis, with a friend, Eli Fry, see the novel, The Confidence Man. His maternal grandfather is General Peter Gansevoort as once painted by Gilbert Stuart. Herman married Shaw Elizabeth Knapp-257116 daughter of Chief Justice, Massachusetts Shaw Lemuel-257117 and wife1 Knapp Elizabeth-257118 in 1847 in Boston. Elizabeth was born in 1822. She died in 1906.

	19	M	iv	Melville Malcolm-382925 was born in 1849. He died in 1867 in Suicide. He is son1. He suicided by shooting himself.

14. DeWolf Nancy Melville-444849 (Mary = Nancy Melville , Thomas , Progenitor ) was born in 1814. She died in 1901.

She had eight children.
