2. Major Melville Thomas-5973 (Progenitor ) was born in 1751 in Boston. He died in 1832 in Boston.

He is Major in Washington's army and had been part of the Boston Tea Party. He seems to have farm at Pittsfield, Mass. See Hardy on Hawkesbury settlers, p. 111. See Dakin, WA, pp. 8-9. Keith Dawson in May 2005 says this man has grandson Herman Melville writer of Moby Dick. He is the Captain Melville of the Third Fleet of convict ship to Australia, or not? One doubts it. Thomas married Scollay Priscilla-39004 daughter of Scollay John-382930 and Greenleaf Mercy-382931. Priscilla was born in 1752/1755 in Boston.
