7. Brown Nicholas I-227362 (James II , James I , John , Chad , Progenitor ) was born in 1729. He died in 1791.

Code-red. He is one of four brothers. See http on descendants of Thomas Olney and Marie Ashton of Providence, Rhode Island.He inherited his uncle Obadiah's business and soon thought to go into slaving, but his first ship "Sally" had disaster in 1764, and they abandoned such efforts. he and his brothers founded what became Brown University.

Nicholas married (1) wife1 Jenckes Rhoda-231580 daughter of Jenckes Jenckes Daniel-231561 and Scott Joanna-231566. Rhoda was born in 1741. She died in 1783.

She had ten children.

Nicholas and Rhoda had the following children:

+ 13 M i Brown and Ives, merchants of Prov Rhode Island Brown Nicholas II-227361 was born in 1769. He died in 1841.
+ 14 F ii Brown Hope-227370 was born in 1773. She died in 1855.

Nicholas married (2) wife2 Binney Avis-227367 daughter of Captain Binney Barnabas-231581 and BNotknown Miss-237876.

10. Philanthropist,anti-slaver Brown Moses-344664 (James II , James I , John , Chad , Progenitor ) was born in 1738. He died in 1836.

gapskey Merchant and philanthropist of Rhode Island. He is a Quaker, an anti-slaver, is also regarded as "the father of the Industrial Revolution" in America, as he founded a textile mill at Pawtucket. A family firm was a spermaceti works. Also in rum distilling and had an iron furnace. See Moses Brown Papers, 1636-1836. Catalog No. Mss 313. Rhode Island Historical Society Manuscripts Division.

Moses married (1) wife1 Brown Anna-344666 daughter of Merchant Brown Obadiah-344651 and BNotknown Miss-344665. Anna died in 1773.

They had the following children:

+ 15 F i Brown Sarah-344667 was born in 1764. She died in 1794.
  16 M ii Brown Obadiah-344670 was born in 1771. He died in 1822.

Moses married (2) Quaker, wife2 Olney Mary-344669 daughter of Olney Richard-344674 and Hunt Hannah-344675. Mary died in 1798.

Moses married (3) Widow Lockwood, wife3 Waterman Phebe-344671 daughter of Of Warwick RI Waterman Resolved-465616 and Carr Sarah-465617. Phebe died in 1809.
