He is cousin of Daniel O'Connell. Heaton entry. Married Mary Putland nee Bligh. Mary Bligh's great hatred for all her father's enemies. He sailed with his regiment to Ceylon on ship General Hewitt (who owned her?) in April 1814. In 1830 he became a major-general. His military secretary is his son. Mary Bligh tried a land takeover effort, succeeding in gaining Camperdown which was sold for £5,000. His own ADB entry. He invested in a station named Hillgrove, from the late 1830s, near Eleanora Township by the antimony mine (from 1876) at what is now Hillgrove, near Armidale NSW, the mining town from 1888 was renamed for Hillgrove Station near Armidale. Still by 2006-2009 an operating mine.
