15. Sheriff, London alderman, ropemaker, slaver Shakespear John-44828 (Jonathan , John , Unnamed , Matthew , Progenitor ) was born on 22 Mar 1718. He was christened in 1718. He died on 18 May 1775 in Aldgate,London. He was buried on 26 May 1775 in Stepney.

He has nieces Elizabeth Philips and Mary Phillips. a cousin John Shaw. His trustees and executors include Colin Currie, Jn Campbell Orange Bay, Jn Campbell of Hope. In 1775 he had debts in Jamaica. He is of Stepney Causeway, Midx, Ropemaker. Item per David Arathoon on thepeerage.com. He is of 10 Billeter Square, London. He is child12. He is ropemaker to the Board of Ordnance in Christie, non-elite MPs, p. 90. Crosslink re noted marriages of Campbell women from Jamaica. Lt-Col p. 31. This man's will was part-proved by two Johns Campbell, one of "Orange Bay" and one of "Hope" in Jamaica, with Orange Bay being Eliz C's second cousin, as he was a nephew of John Campbell of Black River, Jamaica. Lt-Col p. 31, he had a foreman named George Godsell who was son perhaps of William Godsell (could that be Godschall?) When he died he had been head of ropemaking business for 28 years and in WI trade for 12 years. Lt-Col. p. 30, the firm was dissolved in 1772 or 1773, (due to Fordyce problem?) according to directories. Colin Currie carried on the business alone for some years then went to his father's city, Glasgow, where he died in 1814 at age of 83. He stands for Lord Mayor in 1772. He is a partner with his father-in-law David Currie. In 1768 this man is sherrif of London and therefore was tangled up in the 1768 sailor's strike as Cook left, and which tangled up a certain convict ship. Lt-Col Shakespear, p. 25. p. 133. John married Currie Elizabeth-44829 daughter of West Indies merchant Currie David or Colin-14477 and Campbell Anne-14478 on 23 Apr 1747 in St Anne's,St Agnes. Elizabeth was born in 1726. She was christened in 1726. She died in Feb 1807. She was buried on 23 Feb 1807 in Stepney,Churchyard,London.

+ 23 F vi Shakespear Sarah-44740 died in 1829.
+ 24 F vii Shakespear Mary-44736 was born in 1762. She died on 1 Aug 1845.
  25 M viii EICo in India Shakespear Colin-44715 was born on 17 Dec 1764. He died on 6 Apr 1835.
