204. Captain, whaler, NSW settler Bunker Eber-5567 (James Bunker , Desire Gorham , Puella Puelia Hussey , Stephen , Christopher ) was born on 7 Mar 1761 in Plymouth,Massachusetts. He died on 27 Sep 1836 in NSW,Australia.

His mother's name was Hannah, see R. Hodgkinson, Eber Bunker-Whale-Ship Captain of Parramatta, Newsletter Royal Australian Historical Society, June-July, 1786, pp. 4-5. Birthdate in Newletter of RAHS, July 1972, p. 8, in an article by Olive Havard which says Bunker had sheep on the Namoi at Keepit when he died in 1836, but this sheep matter cannot be verified by Tamworth local historians. (Tamworth is the present writer's home town.) There is a genealogical tree of his wife in the ML prepared by Marie Fearn, See Hogkinson, Eber Bunker - A New Look, JRAHS, March 1979., pp. 252ff. See Hodgkinson's treatment of Bunker at Liverpool, Sydney etc. In 1795 he sailed for Alexander and Benjamin Champion qv. Whaler for Enderbys. He left Nantucket for England in 1786. His lineage, Hodgkinson, New Look, pp. 253-254, goes back to the Mayflower via his grandmother, Desire Gorman, and he was related to John Howard and Elizabeth Tilley. About time of the American Revolution, James Bunker and his brother Simeon Bunker took a whaling lease in Barrington, Nova Scotia, but the effort failed as the British Govt promoted her home ships (Enderby ships, that is). Eber married (1) wife1 Thompson Margrett parent problem-5654 daughter of Capt RN Thompson Henry-141 and Collingwood Isabella-2572 on 16 Nov 1786 in St Georges,In East,Midx. Margrett was born in 1767 in London. She was christened on 26 Apr 1767 in County Hall. She died on 3 Apr 1808.
