1. Principal, Glasgow College Campbell Neil-44906 was born in 1678 in Scotland. He was christened in 1678 in Scotland. He died on 22 Jun 1761 in Glasgow,Blackfriars,Church Yard. He was buried in Glasgow.

Beaton says Neil here became Moderator of the Church of Scotland in 1732 at age of 44. Beaton suspects Principal Neil is educated by Rev Patrick Campbell of Torblaren, Minister of Glenary from 1655 to 1700, who was married to Jean Campbell, who was a widow of a brother of Major John Campbell of Clonary. It is thought by Duncan Beaton that both Neil's father and uncle had died before February 1710. Husband of Henrietta Campbell mother of DC the hulks overseer. DR Arathoon is of opinion that he is son of brotherof Archibald Campbell of Clenary, his parents may have died young. Neil inherited his uncle's title of Clenary not his father, and as an orphan he was raised by Jean of Pennymore. Connection to Earl of Argyll probably as Jean was in service of wife of the earl.
Neil married Campbell Henrietta-44907 daughter of Of Kilduskland, Bracklie, Auchinbreck Campbell Patrick "Black Pat"-12 and Of Tarbet Macalester Janet or Isobel-2799 on 7 Jun 1705 in Scotland. Henrietta was born in 1685 in Scotland. She was christened in Scotland. She died on 26 Dec 1761/1764 in Glasgow,Blackfriars,Church Yard,down1. She was buried on 26 Dec 1764 in Glasgow.

Borthwick Notes that Henrietta Campbell was the daughter of Patrick Campbell of Kilduskland by Isabel McAlaster, and that Isabel was almost certainly the daughter of Ronald McAlaster Captain of Tarbet with Jean Campbell of Ardkinglass. Estimated birth only, although she died at stated age of 65. Henrietta here had a brother James noted in Argyll Sheriff Books. This Henrietta C. was the wife of Principal Neil C, and the mother of DC the hulks overseer. See Dr Lorne C's letter to Ted Linn of Oct 29, 1988.
