Hardy, p. 85ff. of King William Co, Va, educt at Wm and M College, on 1775 Committee of safety, vestryman of St David's Parish, his issue by first marriage. See ADB, his uncle is Landon Carter. In 1786 Carter Braxton removed to Richmond Va where he died. He lost during the Am Rev, but the ADB entry does not mention his dealing in tobacco for the Am Rev. Greene, Carter diary, Vol. 1, p. 270, he was Burgess for King William Co, 1761-1771, 1775-1776, member of the Virginia Conventions 1774-1776, delegate to the Second Continental Congress. This man took up marketing American tobacco by arrangement with Robert Morris early in the Am Rev. See Evans, Planter Indebtedness, p. 531, this man on a list of those opposed to repaying debts to British. There is also a man of similar view, probably a relation of Landon Carter's family, Robert Carter Nicholas. By contrast, George Washington opposed non-payment. Carter married (1) wife2 Corbin Elizabeth Tayloe-7259 daughter of Colonel Of Laneville Rec-General Va Corbin Richard-13709 and Twin Tayloe Elizabeth-12107 in May 1761 in England. Elizabeth was born in 1763.

Carter married (2) wife1 of Midx Co Robinson Judith-13710 daughter of Planter of Midx Co Va at "Herwick" Robinson Christopher II-13711 and Wormley Judith Griffin-Beverley-13712 on 16 Jul 1755. Judith died in Dec 1757 in Virginia.
