John married Brindley Susannah-589673 daughter of Canal Engineer of Staffordshire Brindley James-96357 and Hensall Anne-30947. Susannah was born in 1772.

John and Susannah had the following children:

cozens2 In one view he is born 1798. Code-Aust. Code-red. Per work of Trin Truscett of Armidale. In Aust, Bettingtons maybe employ one of the swing rioters. He is principal of John Bettington, Sons and Co. general merchants, Lothbury, London. Originally a white lead maker (paint?). They are connected with Lawsons in NSW and the family of Brindley, the canal engineers of England. The family firm in London was dissolved in 1834 yet the younger members retained interests in Aust/NSW. See Mowle's Genealogy, pp. 16ff. D. E. Fifer, pp. 94ff and also D. E. Fifer on 1827-1830 downturn in NSW. His son came to Sydney. This man managed property Martindale+ 5 M iii White lead maker Bettington Joseph Horton-32032 was born in 1770.
