4. Lawyer, of Dorset Antill Edward Shaftesbury-245 (John , Thomas , Progenitor ) was born on 20 Mar 1659 in Richmond,Surrey,probably. He was christened in England. He died in 1704.
http on colden-antill. Lt-Col Shakespear p. 287 mentions that Harriet qv but non-linked a great-grand- daughter of this man married Dr Charles Blake. See Mowle's Genealogy. See James M. Antill, The Antill Family of Picton, NSW. Descent. 1968, Vol. 3, Part 4., pp. 121ff. Edward Antill migrated to America about 1680 (Shaftesbury and Dorset). Then to Ireland. Then to Surrey, as are the general family movements. He became a prominent New York merchant and lawyer, customs man, owned land on Staten Island. He once defended Giles Shelley, an alleged pirate associated with Capt Kidd, and got him acquitted. He died in 1704. Had a son Edward who inherited the estates.
Edward married (1) wife1 ANotknown Sarah-65745 in 1704 in Circa. Sarah died on 26 Dec 1725 in Bristol, Mass.

She in Mowle, Pioneer Families of Australia may be named Eliz Bowne, not Browne. In http this woman is son of Edward died 1771. This Edward Antill by his two marriages in fact had four sons and four daughters.
